Memorial Day in Washington DC

We've been waiting years for the kids to
be old enough to enjoy Washington DC
properly. Memorial Day seemed like a
good weekend to be there so off we
went. Monuments, museums, history
and food (always)!

France, Italy and the Mediterranean 2009

When the kids asked to take this year's vacation in Europe we wondered just what
was interesting them. I think when it came down to it they liked they idea of visiting the
homes of pizza, pasta and chocolate croissants. Old buildings are great, but it's really
about the food of course.

Not being sure how interested Alex and Sam would be in the history and culture parts,
we decided to hedge our bet and take a cruise. Turns out we underestimated the kids
and they would have been fine on land. And that would have meant more time on land
for Gelato...
